Bruce Wilson is a founding member of White Oak and previously founded North Creek Advisors, a strategic advisory firm focused on partnering with and growing emerging hedge fund managers. Prior to North Creek, he was Chief Operating Officer at Third Point, a multi-billion dollar event driven hedge fund, where he managed finance, operations, technology, marketing, investor relations, legal, compliance, administration, and business risk management, including all aspects of counterparty credit, financing and liquidity risk. Prior to Third Point, he was President and Chief Operating Officer at Quantitative Financial Strategies a $5B multi-product quantitative strategy hedge fund complex. Bruce was responsible for managing the ongoing business, as well as launching new products and negotiating investor managed account agreements, side letters, and third-party agreements with counterparties, custodians, and broker-dealers. Prior to Quantitative Financial Strategies, he was the Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and a member of the Executive Committee of The Madison Avenue Capital Group, a boutique alternative asset management firm. Before Madison, he was the Controller and one of the first employees of Long-Term Capital Management (LTCM), where he played a central role in building from inception, the firm’s operational infrastructure, and subsequently managed certain financial and operational functions of the firm. Jeffrey Walsh is the founding investor of White Oak and, together with Bruce Wilson, author of White Oak’s investment strategy and partnership philosophy. He is an innovator in both the private equity and alternative asset industries. Jeff is a former principal of Wesray Capital Corporation, the recognized pioneer of leveraged buyout transactions which became the foundation of the current private equity industry. In the early 1990’s, Jeff also led the Wesray partners in the acquisition of Evaluation Associates Inc. (EAI), one of the nation’s largest institutional consulting firms. He served as Vice Chairman of that organization for more than fourteen years and in that capacity, seeded and helped EAI become an early leader in the alternative asset space, creating one of the industry’s first multi-billion dollar hedge fund-of-fund platforms. In addition, he has been instrumental in numerous asset allocation decisions, investing with managers across a broad spectrum of investment disciplines. He was responsible for structuring some of the earliest equity/seeding transactions and, as Chairman of the Executive Committee, provided business development guidance, helping to raise in excess of $15 billion of investment capital. Jeff’s philanthropic activities also combine with his investment expertise. Partnering with some of the most respected hedge fund managers in the industry, he created and was President of The One-to-One Charitable Fund, Inc., an outreach initiative of the Points of Light Foundation.Back To Top
Dr. Kurt Overley is a partner at White Oak. Previously he served as Chief Risk Officer for Harbourton Enterprises (the single family office of James S. Regan). Prior to that Kurt worked as a Managing Director at the global boutique investment bank, StormHarbour Partners, focusing on fund related M&A including the acquisitions of Pine Grove and Silvermine by the Man Group. He served as co-CIO and CRO for Ranger Capital and merged its fund of hedge fund business into Signet Capital Management. He pioneered the Fund Linked Products industry by founding the business at Credit Suisse and Zurich Capital Markets and running similar efforts at BNP Paribas and HSBC. Kurt earned a Ph.D. in applied mathematics from Rice University and a B.S. with a double major in mathematics and physics from Harvey Mudd College.Back To Top
Robert Stockton is a partner at White Oak with a focus on strategy, marketing, distribution and business development. He has spent the majority of his professional career in hedge fund Marketing and Investor Relations capacities working with global allocators and investors including pensions, endowments, foundations, sovereign wealth funds, distribution platforms, family offices, fund of funds, registered investment advisors, and consultants. Prior to joining White Oak, Bob was a Managing Director at Visium Asset Management and a Director at FrontPoint Partners with oversight on the global Investor Relations efforts. He previously served as Chief Operating Officer at Goshen Investments, a Tiger Fund seeded by Julian Robertson, which was awarded Absolute Returns' "Fund of the Year" award in 2008. At Goshen, Bob was primarily responsible for all business development and marketing related initiatives. Bob served as a Vice President at Goldman Sachs in the Investment Management Division focused on consulting and managing the Goldman Partners' personal assets. Early in his career, Bob worked as an Equity Analyst for Prudential Securities in both the Specialty Retail and Oil Services sectors. Bob graduated from Trinity College in Hartford, CT with a BA in Philosophy and received his MBA from the University of Chicago's Booth School of Business with concentrations in Finance and Strategy.Back To Top
